Integrations
The tools Multilo works with out of the box: Zotero, reference files, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and PDF, paper search, the built-in browser, Git and GitHub, and Google sign-in.
Multilo works with the tools researchers already use. These integrations are built in: most need nothing more than a setting or a sign-in, and then you use them by asking in chat. For an app that isn’t listed here, connect it with an MCP server or an extension.
At a glance

|---|---|---|
| Zotero | Search, export, and import your Zotero library from chat | Zotero 7+ running, with one setting on |

| Microsoft Word | Open, edit, and save back .docx files | Drag the file into your project |
| PowerPoint, Excel, PDF | Create and change decks, spreadsheets, and PDFs | Ask in chat |
| Paper search | Find real papers to cite | Built in — use Sources Hub or ask in chat |
| Built-in browser | Let the agent read and use web pages with you | Turn on Web in a chat |

Zotero
Multilo talks to the Zotero app on your own computer, so you can work with your Zotero library without exporting files by hand.
Set up Zotero
Run Zotero 7 or later, and in Zotero’s Settings → Advanced, turn on Allow other applications on this computer to communicate with Zotero.Ask in chat
Search, export, or import in plain language — see the examples below.Confirm imports
Searching and exporting only read your Zotero library. Importing always shows you what would come across and asks first.
Export my Thesis collection as BibTeX.Get the full text of that paper from Zotero.Reference files
Already manage references in another tool? Add a .bib, .ris, or CSL-JSON file to your project’s library. Each entry becomes its own citable reference, and you can cite by key, DOI, or its place in the list. PDFs and other files you add to the library/ folder are picked up within seconds.
Microsoft Word
- Open and save back: open any
.docx, edit it with AI, and save back to Word with headings, footnotes, tables, and citations intact. See working with Word. - Citation fields survive: converting between Word and Markdown keeps Zotero and Mendeley citation fields in both directions, along with comments and figures.
- Comments and tracked changes: Multilo can add comments anchored to exact text, reply to comments, and accept all tracked changes.
PowerPoint, Excel, and PDF
Ask in chat and Multilo builds or changes a real Office or PDF file in your project:
| File | What you can ask for |
|---|---|
| PowerPoint | A deck from a paper or for a defense; fix typos, change, reorder, or remove slides; pull out text, tables, and speaker notes |
| Excel | Put results into a spreadsheet, build a table from your data, or read a workbook sheet by sheet |
| Create or export PDFs; merge, split, or rotate them; extract pages; fill in forms; pull tables out |
Office files are checked against the official file format before they’re handed back, so they open cleanly. The first time, Multilo sets up the tools it needs and asks before downloading anything. A few steps, such as recalculating spreadsheet formulas, use LibreOffice if it’s installed.
Scholarly paper search
When you look for sources — in Sources Hub or by asking in chat — Multilo searches scholarly databases for real papers. Results from different databases are merged by how relevant they are to your question, not by citation count, and PubMed results include their abstracts. Add the ones you want to your library to cite them.
The built-in browser
Multilo has a browser you and the agent share. With Web on in a chat, the agent can open a page, read it, click, type into fields, and take screenshots. The first time it acts on a site in a chat, it asks: Allow for this chat, Always allow that site, or deny. See permissions.
Git and GitHub
A project is an ordinary folder, so you can back it with Git and GitHub for a permanent version history — commit milestones, try an experiment on a branch, and keep a record of how your draft evolved. Your GitHub token is only ever sent to github.com. See versions & safety.
Google sign-in
Sign in to Multilo with Continue with Google. Your account is created the first time, and you can add a password later. See authentication.
